Dr. Emmons loves spending time with her patients and is dedicated to providing quality comprehensive dentistry. She believes in providing compassionate care within a state-of-the-art setting.

Education

Dr. Emmons began her education at the University of Illinois where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. After graduating with honors at U of I she was accepted to the Northwestern University Dental School. There Dr. Emmons enjoyed a busy curriculum in the classroom and the clinic while starting a family. After her graduation, Dr. Emmons began practicing dentistry in a private practice in Iowa City where she remained for three years. Her husband, Dr. Joseph Emmons, took a position as an Internal Medicine physician for Centegra Primary Care in Woodstock, Illinois, spurring their move back to Illinois. After six years as an associate dentist, Dr. Emmons opened her own dental practice for general dentistry in Woodstock, Illinois where she continues to practice and live today.

Memberships

Dr. Emmons is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society and the McHenry County Dental Society. Currently she is on the board for the McHenry County Dental Society. Also Dr. Emmons volunteers her time and materials to help provide dental screenings and treatment to disadvantaged children in McHenry County. Dr. Emmons and her staff attend many continuing education courses every year. These seminars provide advanced training in restorative, cosmetic, implant and endodontic areas of dentistry.

Outside of the office

Family life is high priority for Dr. Emmons. Her two children, Madeleine and Jackson, are involved in school and many extra-curricular activities. When not spending time at the dental practice or with her family, Dr. Emmons enjoys books, music, and the company of her pets.

Dr Nguyen strives to provide her patients with personalized attention and exceptional care. She is dedicated to helping her patients achieve the best possible dental health through education and prevention. She takes the time to help her patients understand their treatment options so that they can choose what will best fit their needs. Dr Nguyen really enjoys practicing dentistry with her old college friend, Dr Emmons. Together, they have a great time providing the highest quality dental care to their patients so they can maintain beautiful and healthy smiles for a lifetime!

Dr Nguyen grew up in Carbondale, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign with a degree in chemistry and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1998 from the University of Illinois, Chicago. In dental school, she was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. In 2000, Dr Nguyen completed a two year hospital based general practice residency at the University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky.

Work

Following her residency she joined the National Health Service Corp and served as a staff dentist for two years at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. While on staff at the hospital, she taught senior dental students as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

Dr Nguyen then became the Dental Director of Primary Health Care, a federally funded community health center, where she provided dental care to homeless and underserved children and adults in central Iowa.

After serving 5 years in the National Health Service Corp and community health, Dr Nguyen joined a private practice in Urbandale, Iowa for three years. In 2008, she relocated back to her home state of Illinois to join Dr Emmons at City Square Dental Care.

Outside of the office

In her free time, Dr Nguyen enjoys running, reading, baking and spending time with family and friends.
